Social Service & Outreach

OUTREACH COMMISSION
The Commission studies, and recommends to the Vestry and Pastor, ways in which the outreach resources of the parish can be best employed, striving to make a positive Christian impact on the world around us. The two main concerns of the Commission (social responsibility and cultural enrichment) are coordinated by its two Committees: the Jubilee Committee and the Cultural Outreach Committee.

JUBILEE CENTER
We give particular attention to actions and programs aimed the neediest among us, and actions that have the power not only to save but to also transform lives. Our central focus is on ministries that serve our Sonoma County community, but we also financially support programs beyond our community such Episcopal Relief and Development, United Thank Offering, and the Church Periodical Club. And important goal is to encourage and support hands-on activities involving parishioners in direct ministries to our wider community. Two outreach ministries are carried out on our campus:

The Living Room is a daytime drop-in center for homeless and at-risk women and their children. We offer comfort, counseling, phones, meals, a mailing address, referrals to other agencies, and personal items, such as diapers, shampoo, toothbrushes. Currently located at Church of the Incarnation, and sponsored by the church, we are pleased to also work closely with First Presbyterian Church. We are funded by a variety of sources and grant monies. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed. We provide training for our volunteers in a wide variety of aspects of working with the homeless.
